1) Check you car thoroughly

Regularly check your car for any problem. This helps you to know where the car is facing obstacles. It is a simple way of monitoring a different part of the car. It also suggests the next step in this process. However, if you find some problem that can’t be managed by you, call a professional to look over it.

2) Light Indicators

The light indicators tell us which part of the car is facing some problems. So, it is very important to know about all the signals given by the light indicator. The light indicator is in the dashboard which is easily visible. If you don’t have a light indicator in your car, you can read the owner’s manual to inspect the basic problems in the car.

3) Tire pressure

Check the pressure of all four tyres. You can use a gadget or a simple tool to check the pressure. Likewise, the pressure of the tyres should be monitored daily. It is important to check the tire pressure because it affects the comfort and handling of the car.

4) Rotate and adjust the tires.

After checking the pressure of the tyres you need to rotate and adjust the tires. Rotating the tyres works wonders. It helps in preventing tyres from wearing and tearing. Likewise, you should rotate the tyres every 6,000 to 8,000 miles.

5) Clean the wheel

It is necessary to clean the whole car especially the wheels. Clean the wheels with a damp sponge. Likewise, you should clean the wheels because of the brake dust on it. The brake dust can clings on the wheel and should be cleaned with clean cold water.

6) Tread depth

The tire tread helps the tyres perform well in all the weather conditions. Check if the tread is worn or not. A worn tread won’t be able to direct water away. This will lead to a misbalance of the tires on the wet surface.

7) Checking motor oil

It is crucial to check the level of the motor oil in a car. It is also effortless to check. Checking the level of the oil helps in maintain a better performance of the engine. Make sure that you don’t get over oil the engine. It can cause some issues. Keep in on the level.

8) Changing windshield wipers

Getting a clear view while driving is essential. The windshield wipers make sure that the view is spot on. However, the wipers don’t last that long and you have to change it as often as possible. They wear out pretty fast. Likewise, it is an easy task to replace a windshield wipers.

9) Check the air filters

The air filter doesn’t let dirt to get inside the engine. The engine needs air, and a clogged filter may impact the performance of the car. Also, the air we breadth inside the car is filtered by the air filter. So, you should replace the air filter every 12 months.

10) Inspect Battery

Next in car maintenance is inspecting the battery. A battery is a requirement for the engine to start up. Also, it gives other necessary parts like control unit with the electrical flow. If the indicator for the battery in the light indicator is on then there is a problem. The problem can be with the voltage regulator, the battery capacity, or a broken. You should call the servicer or take the car to a nearby garage if you find such problem.

The brake system is an essential part of the car. If the light indicator of the brake is on then there is a problem. There may be a problem with brake rotor of brake pads. This can lead to brake failure while driving. Release the handbrake and see if the indicator goes off. However, if it doesn’t, then call the services.

An important tip for car maintenance is properly disconnecting batteries. While disconnecting the car battery, separate the negative terminal first. Disconnecting a car battery seems easy like an easy task, but one mishap could lead to a dangerous risk. Be very careful and double-check whether the one that you are operating first is negative on or not.

13) Jump starting a car

It is a good idea to get your battery tested and do a jump start. While attempting to jump-start do not mix up the wires. Positive to positive and negative to negative. You should also have a spare battery or someone’s vehicle to jump-start your car.

14) Inspect Serpentine Belts

Every owner should be able to inspect the cars serpentine belt. If the belt is tearing or cracking then replace it immediately. If you can then replace it on your own. But if you can’t then get experts help. A damaged serpentine belt can cause harm to the engine parts.

15) Coolant level

If the temperature of the coolant is too high then it can make the engine to overheat. Close the engine quickly and let it cool down. Then add the suitable coolant, if required add water also.

16) Monitor the fuel

When the engine is working hard it burns more fuel. This leads to an empty fuel tank quickly. To avoid this keep a track of how often you are filling the tank of your car. You should also Start driving shortly after starting the car. Likewise, turn off the engine when it is not operating.

17) Airbags

The defects in the control unit, the airbag or the sensors can cause the airbags or belt tensioners to break in case of an accident. The light indicator also lights up when seat airbag is deactivated. You should get it checked out in a workshop. Airbags can save your life in a severe accident so getting it inspected is very important.

18) Change any broken indicator bulb

The indicator informs about the turning you are going to make to the person riding behind you. It is very important to indicate the turn as it may cause an accident if not turned on. Checking if the indicators are working or not is very important. Replace the bulb is the indicator is not working. look at the owners manual to change the bulb on your own. Otherwise, go to a mechanic.

19) Change Your Spark Plugs

If your car is not working as it usually does, you may want to inspect the spark plugs. replace the spark plugs and spark wires if they are in old condition. After that, the car will work better. Look at the owner’s manual for further information about the spark plugs.

20) Cover the car

Always cover your car if you are not using it. Keeping your car in the sunlight may result in faster damage.  Harmful radiation and weather can harm the car inside and out. Not keeping your car cover can invite birds. And you know what happens after that. So always keep your car covered and in a place of shade.
