The Government of Koshi Province has officially revised driving license fees under the Economic Bill 2083. From the fiscal year 2083/84 (2026/27), applicants across all vehicle categories will face significantly higher costs for new licenses, renewals, and category additions.
The new structure increases most fees by up to 100%, affecting motorcycle riders, private vehicle owners, commercial drivers, and heavy equipment operators.
Drivers planning to apply or renew their license are advised to understand the updated rates before the new policy comes into effect.
New Driving License Application Fee in Koshi Province
The basic application charge has been doubled.
Previous Fee: NPR 500
New Fee: NPR 1,000
This increase applies to all new driving license applicants in the province.
Motorcycle and Scooter License Fee Increased
Motorcycle and scooter licenses have also seen a major revision.
Category A / K (Motorcycle and Scooter)
- New License: NPR 1,500 → NPR 3,000
- Renewal: NPR 1,500 → NPR 3,000
This category remains one of the most widely used licenses in Nepal, making the hike impactful for many daily riders.
Car, Jeep, Van, Tempo, and E-Rickshaw License Fee
Light vehicle drivers will now pay double the previous amount.
Categories: B, C, C1, D
- New License: NPR 2,000 → NPR 4,000
- Renewal: NPR 2,000 → NPR 4,000
This includes private car users, public transport operators, and e-rickshaw drivers.
Tractor, Minibus, and Mini Truck License Fee
Commercial light-to-medium vehicle operators will also see a rise.
Categories: E, F (Minibus, Mini Truck)
- New License: NPR 2,500 → NPR 5,000
- Renewal: NPR 2,500 → NPR 5,000
Heavy Vehicle License Fee in Koshi Province
The highest increase applies to heavy transport operators.
Categories: G, H, I, J (Truck, Bus, Crane, Loader, Excavator, etc.)
- New License: NPR 3,000 → NPR 6,000
- Renewal: NPR 3,000 → NPR 6,000

Driving License Validity Remains 10 Years
Despite the fee hike, the validity period remains unchanged.
- New License Validity: 10 years
- Renewal Validity: 10 years
Drivers will still benefit from long-term license validity before renewal is required.

Upgrading or adding vehicle categories has also become more expensive.
- A to F Categories: NPR 500 → NPR 1,000
- G to J Categories: NPR 1,000 → NPR 2,000
