Department of Transportation Management Urges Public to Collect Driving License Only After Receiving SMS Notification

Last Updated on March 27, 2025 by Automobile Hive

The Department of Transportation Management has announced that individuals should visit the office to collect their driving licenses only after receiving an SMS notification confirming their printing.

In a notice issued on Thursday, the department urged service seekers to wait for the SMS before visiting the office. It stated that some individuals have been arriving at the office to inquire about their licenses even before receiving a notification.

Once printed, license details will be available on the department’s website, the “Hello Yatayat Byabastha Bibhag” Facebook page, and through an SMS notification. The department has requested that individuals verify their license status through these platforms before visiting the office.

Although the authority to issue, renew, and revoke driving licenses now lies with provincial offices, the printing process is still managed by the department. As a result, there is a significant backlog, with thousands of licenses yet to be printed, leading to delays of up to a year in distribution.

The department further stated that after passing the driving test conducted by provincial offices, applicants’ results are integrated into the system, making their status visible on the Nagarik App and the department’s website.
