Honda Motors India is set to shake up the compact SUV segment with its upcoming launch of a brand new SUV that will rival the Hyundai Creta. Scheduled for a June release, this model is the latest addition to a growing segment that has seen the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Highrider, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushak, and Volkswagen Tigun compete in recent times.
The high demand for compact SUVs has led to a surge of new models in the segment, with Tata and Mahindra also preparing to launch their own offerings. Honda’s new SUV, built on the platform of the City sedan, is expected to feature a host of modern features and a sporty design to compete in this cutthroat market.
With a flat and wide bonnet, sharp LED lights, muscular-looking wheels, and a sporty design, the new SUV is set to impress. Top-mounted rear spoilers and taillights inspired by the new generation WR-V are some of the unique features that will be included. The SUV will boast a clean dashboard, premium safety features, comfortable seats, a fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, and automatic climate control.
The new SUV will come in two engine variants: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated and a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine, both offering an estimated 121 PS power. The SUV will also offer a 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearbox, along with a CVT gearbox.
While the price has not been officially announced, it is expected to fall between 12 to 18 lakhs in India. With the growing demand for compact SUVs, Honda’s new SUV is sure to make waves in the market and appeal to customers looking for a modern and sporty vehicle.
